Opportunity for a Materials Buyer/Inventory Control person with a medical device company located in Palo Alto, CA. This is a permanent position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Buyer is responsible for the tactical materials purchasing and inventory control for the development and production of the company's products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Initiates purchase orders and amendments for electronics, mechanical parts, hardware, bio-chemicals, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required with the direction of the Supply Chain Manager.
• Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers with the help and direction of the Supply Chain Manager.
• Coordinates the materials planning of production schedules while monitoring and maintaining inventory levels
• Helps in the planning, procurement and utilization of all materials used by the company.
• Works with Supply Chain Manager to ensure Bills of Materials (BOM’s) and Authorized Vendor Lists (AVLs) are accurate and updated.
• Expedites shortages and works with Supply Chain Manager on replacement parts.
• Maintains inventory levels and performs cycle counts

QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Personal computer skills, as relates to procurement, related software, and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes required.
• Biomedical industry experience preferred
• Hands on experience with PO and PDM systems, QAD experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and teamwork skills.
• High commitment, results oriented.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Knowledge of CFR 49 Part 171 to 180 and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for the transport of dangerous goods under 173.4, 2.7, Limited Quantity and Dry Ice by air is preferred.
• 3+ years experience in Materials, Procurement, or related disciplines in the high tech industry.
• AA degree preferred.

This position does not have a relocarion package so local Bay Area candidates are preferred.
