Opportunity for a Software Bring Up Engineer with a company that is a leader and innovator in the worldwide embedded semiconductor market located in Sunnyvale, CA. This is a direct hire position with benefits.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least five to ten years of experience in bring-up of embedded systems, low-level firmware, run-time library code, Linux and RTOS

development and maintenance work as required. This includes CPU start-up code, device drivers, run time libraries, kernel extensions and porting of boot monitors to new hardware, example Redboot or Uboot.

 

The candidate should be familiar with lab debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and JTAG debug probes.

 

The position requires the ability to support multiple projects and requests simultaneously.

In this highly visible role, the engineer will work with product development teams to support the bring-up and debug of new microprocessor cores.

 

Responsibilities include:

• System POST S/W
• Boot monitors such as Redboot and/or Uboot.
• Development of new Linux drivers and Kernel building for prototype hardware.
• Perform system software level validation of the company’s products
• Developing applications to exercise and debug the designs, and supporting the design team in debug related activities.

 

              Essential skills:

• BSEE/MSEE or equivalent and minimum 5-10 year related industry experience.
• System-level experience with embedded processors working knowledge of embedded systems.
• Knowledge of Computer Architecture, have proficient programming experience with C/C++, Perl and scripting languages.
• Experience in low-level debug at the H/W S/W interface.
• Working knowledge of Linux or other embedded operating systems, Operating System bring-up using Hardware emulator, and/or FPGAs.
• Excellent analysis skills demonstrating an organized, methodical and detail-oriented approach to system debug.
• The ability to correlate logic analyzer trace dumps with original source code in a multi-core / multi-threaded environment.
• Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.
